I love getting to bring my dogs with me pretty much anywhere, but I'll admit I don't venture far unless it's a real road trip (Adirondacks, Vermont, Finger Lakes — the usual suspects). Turns out I didn't have to go that far. Madison County has been quietly building a solid lineup of dog-friendly breweries, and Greg and I finally made the rounds.
Meier’s Creek Brewing - Casanova
Greg and I always have a good time when we go to Meier’s Creek it always makes us wonder why we don’t make the trek more often! I think the last time we made it there was 2023 when I had a plant store in the area that I loved to shop at.
ANYWAY we ended up there this past weekend after a date to Green Lakes State Park and I was so surprised when I got a big ol’ hug from a Golden Retriever! I didn’t expect to see a puppy! Like I said it was our first time there in awhile and I think our first time being able to sit outside.
There were good boys and girls with their pawrents all over the patio and I loved to see it!
I didn’t even think to take any pictures until on our way out and quickly turned around to snap this!
Good to know: They have self-serve water on the patio and containers to use as dog water bowls. The back has lots of grassy space for your pup to enjoy and to the right of the parking lot that have poop bags. Always helpful if you forget or end up short a bag.
Critz Farms (formerly known as the Harvest Moon Cidery)
Small batch brews made from their own malted barley? With hops grown on the farm? Count me in. This is now at the top of my to-do list for fall!
Critz Farms has something different going one very season. In March they have a Maple Syrup Celebration, then an Apple Blossom Festival in May, and lots of pick-your-own activities throughout the summer and fall. I’m obsessed with this line from their about page: “As a farm, our celebrations, activities, and hours change by the season and day of the week”
Good to know: They have two resident pups on the farm (Emmy Lou and Watson) and their tap room is dog friendly! You can bring your own food but outside alcohol is not allowed.
